WHAT WE'RE MADE OF
The San Joaquin Sport Divers Club was formed back in 1956 as a non-profit organization and is one of the oldest and most active dive clubs in the San Joaquin Valley. We are currently 70 members strong and growing! Many of our members are old pros while others are newly certified. Our club consists of SCUBA instructors, Search and Rescue divers, aspiring Underwater Photographers, Lobster-and other game-Hunters, Wreck divers, Skin divers and Snorkelers. We welcomes all types of divers!
 
 WHERE WE'RE LOCATED
Our club is based in Bakersfield California, in the San Joaquin Valley. Most of our members reside here in Kern County, home of the mighty Kern River! Bakersfield is 115 miles north of Los Angeles and about 130 miles east of the California coast- line... So we're only a few hours away from our local dive sites.
 
 WHAT OUR FUTURE HOLDS
Scuba diving is becoming more and more popular as advancing technology makes it easier and more enjoyable. We expect the club will double or even triple over the next decade. New members will most likely bring new ideas to the club, and we look forward to a long and exciting future.

 
 WHAT WE DO
We meet, we talk, we share ideas and experiences, we plan, we dive and most importantly, we have fun! The purpose of our club is to enhance our diving experiences through the benefits of friendship, buddy support, idea sharing, safety and education. We also benefit from car pooling, lower 'group' rates on many of our outings and also the sharing of many non-diving activities. That's right, we have fun even when we're not diving! We have club meetings, presentations, campouts, parties, dinners, barbeques and much more!
 
 WHERE WE DIVE
Most of our diving is done locally, or at least within driving distance. We have many dive sites along the Southern California coastline, and we dive them as often as we can. Click here to see a map of some of our favorite dive sites.

We also like to take an exotic dive trip once every year or two! Roatan Honduras and Fiji were a few recent choices.
